Can’t Bake? Make a Felt Pie.

What you’ll need:

Pieces:

So, depending on how big you want your pie, you can guess the measurements. In my photos, I made a mini pie; final size of about 2″x2″. Sorry the directions aren’t that detailed, this was an impromptu project…. Hopefully, the photos are enough of a guide.

Materials 1

Cut out all the pieces (clockwise starting from top left): Bottom crust, pie filling, pie bottom, pie top.

materials2

More pieces (clockwise starting from top left): Card stock cut to match the pie bottom, finishing tan strips to line pie bottom, pie top crust with pie filling pieces glue gunned to it, and poly-fil.

Construction:

phase1

Next, take the pie crust piece that was cut like a rainbow with slits, and glue the bottom pieces together to form a bowl-like shape. Once that’s dried, glue the cardstock to the bottom of the pie piece and then glue that to the bowl-like shape; use the lining strips to hide edges. Next up, sew the top crust to the bottom crust using a running stitch, but leave an opening for the stuffing.

s

Fill the pie with poly-fil then close up/sew the crust.

phase3

As you approach the end of the sewing, tighten the stitch a little to create the puckering.

So now you have a pie, what next?

Leave it as a 'love note': Cut a tag out of a piece of paper if you'd like to leave a note on the pie...

Cut a tag out of a piece of paper to make a tag….

...and leave it as a note for someone to find.

Other ideas:
Make it a pin/brooch… Use it in gift wrap… Maybe a pet pillow?
